‘Major trust issue’: Albanese goes down in polls after budget

Former NSW Police minister David Elliott says there is a “major trust issue” facing the Albanese government, as support for Labor has fallen in recent polls.

“The prime minister was happy to accept that trust at the last election when he got a thumping majority … people expected him to stay at face value, they expected him to honour his word,” Mr Elliot told Sky News host Jaimee Rogers.

“He’s claiming the circumstances have changed, but that just doesn’t wash; this housing crisis didn’t happen since the election.

“This housing crisis has been brewing for 20 years.”
