Delta Goodrem speaks on Eurovision tensions
Australia’s Eurovision contestant Delta Goodrem will soon take to the main stage in Vienna, Austria for the 2026 competition.
Ahead of her performance, Delta sat down with SBS Chief International Correspondent Ben Lewis in Vienna to talk about the event, controversies and the stiff competition.
With a smaller contest this year due to five countries boycotting the event over the inclusion of Israel.
Iceland, Spain, Slovenia, the Netherlands and Ireland announced their boycott last year due to the European Broadcasting Union’s (EBU) refusal to expel Israel from the contest over its actions in its war against Hamas in Gaza.
Critics have claimed the EBU of double standards, since Russia was barred from participating after its invasion of Ukraine in 2022.
In response to the matter, Australian star, Delta, says she’s always seen music as a uniting force.
“I’ve always believed in the power of music and its healing qualities, I’ve always believed in a song being able to transform a room and that’s really my focus.”
