Tim Cook to step down as Apple boss: ‘Hall of Fame CEO’


Tim Cook has announced he will be stepping down as CEO of Apple after 15 years in charge of the tech company.

His replacement will be Apple hardware chief John Ternus who has a reputation for sharp product ideas and design.

Under Cook’s tenure, Apple’s stock soared twentyfold, outperforming the NASDAQ, which tracks the top 100 tech companies in the US and the broader S&P 500.

Dan Ives, Wedbush Securities’ global head of technology research, says Cook will go down as a “hall of fame CEO”, but the real crunch for his replacement will be how the company can take on artificial intelligence.
