Discrepancies between Trump and Zelenskyy’s claims over Ukraine’s access to Starlink
US President Donald Trump told reporters that Elon Musk had restored Ukraine’s access to Starlink. Earlier in the day Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said the service was not yet operating at full speed.
“It has not been restored to 400 (km per hour speed) yet. We are working on it. I am waiting to hear from US Secretary of State (Marco) Rubio,” Zelenskyy said.
Trump declined to confirm whether he personally asked Musk to lift the restrictions on Ukraine’s Starlink access, as reported by the Wall Street Journal earlier.
Ukraine uses Starlink for drone operations and battlefield communications in the ongoing war against Russia, which were hampered by restrictions to the satellite service.
Trump denied any involvement in Ukraine’s restricted access to Starlink.
Fighting between Ukraine and Russia continues to escalate, with Russia bombarding Kyiv with ballistic missiles and Ukraine sending hundreds of drones towards Moscow on Thursday.
