Trump doesn’t commit to endorsing JD Vance for president in 2028 election
In case you missed it, US President Donald Trump has said it is “too early” for him to endorse vice president JD Vance to succeed him in the 2028 election, adding: “I don’t think we’ve ever talked about it.”
Speaking to reporters, Trump called Vance “a very talented person” and “a very good person,” but said the focus should remain on the fast-approaching midterm elections, before talking about his rallies across the country.
This comes after Vance said in an interview that he hadn’t made up his mind about running for president in 2028, but that if he does, he expects that Trump would back him.
Trump has previously joked about running for a fourth term and even donned a “Trump 2028” hat in public earlier this year; however, the US constitution strictly bars any president from being elected to office more than twice, making his 2028 run legally impossible.
