Yolŋu MP says NT’s CLP government is engaging in a ‘slow genocide’
Independent Northern Territory member for Mulka, Yingiya Mark Guyula, strongly criticised the NT’s Country Liberal Party government over what he described as “incredibly damaging laws that have harmed Aboriginal people” during his Garma address.
He said new legislation, including changes to child protection laws passed last week, brought “trauma and damage” to Indigenous Australians.
“Each time the CLP passes these laws, they take part in a slow genocide of our people,” Guyula said.
“Each law is another step on the path to killing our people and culture.”
