Wong warns about national security risks of pursuing monoculture
Foreign Minister Penny Wong has warned a monoculture would make Australia more vulnerable in a “dangerous world”.
Wong made the comments while delivering the 2026 Allan Gyngell Lecture for the Lowy Institute in Sydney on Friday.
The speech didn’t mention One Nation or Pauline Hanson by name but offered criticisms of the party’s approach, including that it would risk national security and jeopardise our standing in the world.
Wong said a multicultural Australia is the only Australia that has ever existed.
