A groundbreaking Australian study is examining why advanced driver assistance systems in modern vehicles are failing to reduce crash rates as expected. Researchers from Queensland University of Technology and insurer IAG are testing 60 drivers in Brisbane to understand why nearly 60% of motorists are disabling safety features like autonomous emergency braking. The study investigates whether drivers find the technology too intrusive, overly sensitive, or confusing, with nearly 40% of Australian cars expected to have these systems within five years.
