Warnings over ‘scary’ nature of Andy Burnham’s ‘radical’ 10-year plan

Spiked Online Chief Political Reporter Brendan O’Neill reacts to Labour MP Andy Burnham’s “uncomfortable” 10-year plan to “radically overhaul” the UK.

“Some people are pretty uncomfortable with it … Stalin only had five-year plans and now along comes Andy Burnham with a 10-year plan; it’s quite scary,” Mr O’Neill told Sky News host Jaimee Rogers.

“The main issue is that he doesn’t really have a mandate to do any of this. He’s talking about completely restructuring politics in Britain.

“If you’re going to change the whole country radically, overhaul the country, you need the consent of the people … who gives him the authority to do this?”
