Victorian public school teachers will strike for 24 hours on 23 July, forcing around 1,600 schools to close or face widespread disruption as their pay dispute with the Allan Government escalates. The Australian Education Union rejected a union-endorsed offer of up to 32% last month, with five negotiations since last week failing to reach agreement. The industrial action includes bans on unpaid overtime, limiting meetings and department emails, and restricting state Labor MPs from visiting schools.
