US to host more Israel-Lebanon talks amid push for ceasefire extension
The United States will host a second round of peace talks between Lebanon and Israel as Beirut pushes to extend a fragile ceasefire between Hezbollah and Israel.
The US-mediated ceasefire is due to expire this weekend, and although there has been a significant reduction in violence, attacks in Southern Lebanon have continued.
Earlier this week, Lebanon recorded its deadliest day since the ceasefire began, with journalist Amal Khalil among five people killed in Israeli strikes.
Local authorities say nearly 2,500 people have been killed since the escalation of the conflict.
