Donald Trump has rejected calls for international AI regulations, instead securing a voluntary ‘morally binding’ accord with tech billionaires from Nvidia, OpenAI, Anthropic and Meta following a White House summit. The self-policing agreement comes as OpenAI was forced to halt its most advanced AI model over safety concerns and following a Medicare data breach that prompted urgent reviews of government cyber systems. Australia’s Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and e-Safety Commissioner Julie Inman Grant continue to push for international guardrails and Australian AI standards.
