US President Donald Trump has intervened in the conflict between Israel and Lebanese militant group Hezbollah, after Iran suspended ceasefire talks with Washington to protest the Israeli incursion into southern Lebanon.
The US leader claims he prevented the deployment of Israeli troops to Beirut and convinced both Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netnayahu and Hezbollah leaders to stop attacking each other.
Hezbollah representatives in the Lebanese parliament have confirmed their commitment to a ceasefire but the Israeli leader is insistent on maintaining the IDF’s operations in southern Lebanon.
