U.S. President Donald Trump talked up his administration’s auto agenda during a visit to General Motors’ proving ground in Michigan.
The event was briefly interrupted by hecklers who were escorted from the venue. Some hecklers yelled out “paedophile protector!” as Trump responded by calling one protester a “communist” and saying, “We’re running against communists,” later accusing political opponents of seeking to turn the United States into a communist country and describing communism as the greatest threat facing the nation.
Trump talked up the production of small vehicles in the U.S. as well as the positive effect tariffs have had on the sector.
