Trump says Nobel Peace Prize winner accepted award “in honour” of him
US President Donald Trump told White House reporters that this year’s Nobel Peace Prize winner María Corina Machado called him and said she accepted the award “in honour” of him because he “really deserved it”.
Machado was honoured by the Norwegian Nobel Committee “for her tireless work promoting democratic rights for the people of Venezuela and for her struggle to achieve a just and peaceful transition from dictatorship to democracy.”
Trump told reporters at the White House that he had made eight peace deals as US president. According to AP, the extent of his involvement and the outcomes of these deals are somewhat contested.
