Trump praised for calling out European Union’s ‘woke progressive ideology’

Wall Street Journal Editor-at-Large Gerard Baker praises US President Donald Trump’s “intervention” into Europe’s “progressive left-wing thinking” in relation to immigration.

“While it [the European Union] was supposed to be an economic club of relatively wealthy countries that came together for the benefit of trade, and for the benefit of closer integration, it has become an institutionalised pillar of this sort of woke progressive ideology,” Mr Baker told Sky News host James Morrow.

“What Trump is trying to do in this national security strategy is to say, look, this is not in the interest of Europe.”
