Trump pleads with Xi to pressure Russia to end Ukraine war | ABC NEWS
US President Donald Trump has called on Chinese leader Xi Jinping to use his influence to talk Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin into ending the war in Ukraine.
The US and Chinese leaders are scheduled to meet for trade talks as Washington and Beijing seek to avoid a trade war over Trump’s Liberation Day tariffs.
The White House has ruled out any in-person meeting between Trump and Putin until a Ukraine ceasefire becomes likely.
Meanwhile, at least four people have been killed and 20 others injured in Russian air strikes on Ukraine’s Dnipropetrovsk region and Kyiv, as the Ukrainian air force claims to have intercepted four of nine Russian missiles and 50 of the 60 drones launched in the barrage.
