‘There’s no way that’s going through Congress’: Trump offers $5,000 promise

Center of the American Experiment President John Hinderaker says Donald Trump’s proposed $5,000 payment is unlikely to pass Congress, arguing the promise is designed to motivate Trump supporters to vote in the midterm elections.

“I’m not going to get it; there’s no way that’s going through Congress,” Mr Hinderaker told News24.

“What’s going on here is that the Republicans have a serious problem because there are millions of Donald Trump fans who don’t turn out to vote when he’s not on the ballot.

“So the whole point of this midterm convention … was to motivate Trump fans to understand that it’s important to vote in this midterm election.”
