A 14-year-old Melbourne girl facing more than 100 charges, including allegedly running down a cyclist and terrorising the Jewish community in Ripponlea, has had all charges withdrawn. The girl’s lawyer successfully argued the legal principle of Doli Incapax, which presumes children aged 13 and under are incapable of understanding the consequences of their actions. The cyclist victim suffered a brain injury and remains in recovery, while the case has sparked debate about legal protections for young offenders.
