Residents in Spring Farm, Mount Annan, Oran Park, Gregory Hills, Grasmere and Cobbity are reporting a strong chlorine smell from their tap water, with some linking it to skin rashes and illness. Sydney Water has confirmed switching from monochloramine to free chlorine disinfectant, which produces a more noticeable taste and odour, but maintains the water supply is safe. Local plumbers are reporting an influx of residents installing filtration systems costing up to $5,500 to address the issue.
