Multiple suburbs across Sydney are experiencing thick smoke haze from hazard reduction burns being conducted by the Rural Fire Service. The burns are taking place across Hornsby, Penrith and the Sutherland Shire as preparation for what’s expected to be a supercharged fire season, driven by a super-sized El Niño weather system and flash droughts that create dangerously warm conditions.
