Surfer’s heroic rescue after Geraldton shark attack | 7NEWS
A local surfer, Shannan Dunn, rescued 56-year-old Mel Ismail after a shark attack at Glenfield Beach in Geraldton, Western Australia, approximately 420 kilometres north of Perth. Ismail, a father of two and local firefighter, lost part of his leg to the shark attack but was saved when Dunn paddled out into danger and dragged him back to shore on his board. A couple and three local teenagers also assisted, creating a makeshift tourniquet and transporting Ismail to a waiting ambulance before he was rushed to hospital’s intensive care unit.
