Successor of Ayatollah potentially to be an IRGC general amid US-Israeli strikes
Former defence deputy secretary for strategy Peter Jennings details how alternative leaders will “come into play” to succeed Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
“The Ayatollah, I believe, nominated something like four levels down of people that could replace him and other key figures in the national security apparatus,” Mr Jennings told Sky News host James Macpherson.
“I think there are clearly alternate leaders that will come into play … sooner or later, it may well be the case that a general emerges from the Revolutionary Guard … what is the United States and Israel going to do at that point?”
