Strathfield massacre remembered 35 years on | 7NEWS
The Strathfield massacre occurred on 17 August 1991 when gunman Wade Frankum opened fire at a shopping mall and cafe in Sydney, killing seven people including 15-year-old Roberta Armstrong. Survivors and victims’ loved ones gathered 35 years later at a memorial service to honour those who died, laying wreaths and observing a moment of silence. The tragedy prompted calls for stricter gun laws in Australia, with further reforms following after subsequent attacks including the Port Arthur massacre and the Bondi terror attack.
