Starmer to face questioning amid revelations Mandelson was hired despite failing security vetting
UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer is preparing to answer questions on what he knew about the decision to hire Peter Mandelson as the country’s ambassador to the United States.
It’s been revealed two civil servants were aware Mr Mandelson had failed his security vetting process.
As the scandal around Mr Mandelson’s appointment threatens to bring down the UK Prime Minister, Mr Starmer insisted he wasn’t told his US ambassador’s security vetting had failed.
“That is shocking, it is unacceptable, and I intend to set out the full facts to parliament on Monday,” he said.
