Snake catcher’s warning ahead of sighting season

Snake catcher Austin Pols has encouraged Australians not to harm or kill snakes as warmer spring weather brings around increased sightings of the reptiles.
“God did not design them to be aggressive towards us. They’re controlled if you’re controlled,” he said.
Pols, who arrived in Australia from Iraq 20 years ago, said customers are often surprised by his cultural heritage.
“They’re shocked when they see me, as an Iraqi, catching snakes,” he said.
