R&B singer Chris Brown has avoided immediate prison time in the United Kingdom after being handed an eight-month suspended sentence at London’s Southwark Crown Court. The 37-year-old music star pleaded guilty to a charge of affray following a February 2023 brawl at Tape nightclub in Mayfair, where he attacked music producer Abraham Diaw with a tequila bottle. Sentencing Brown, Judge Tony Baumgartner condemned the incident as “serious, public violence” that involved striking the victim twice in the head with a bottle. Brown, who had previously posted a £5 million security bond to secure bail and continue his international tour, thanked the judge and acknowledged cheering fans before leaving the courthouse a free man.
