Australian researchers at the University of Queensland are trialling a physiotherapy program targeting the upper cervical region of the neck to reduce migraine frequency and severity.
The gentle exercises focus on improving upper neck rotation and mobility, with a pilot study showing 8 in 10 participants reported fewer migraines and some were able to stop attacks.
The program could soon be delivered online as a drug-free, at-home treatment for the 1.2 billion migraine sufferers worldwide.
