Violence has broken out at Bougainville’s Panguna copper and gold mine amid tensions over its redevelopment as the region’s push for independence is being considered by PNG’s parliament.
The ABC’s been told at least 20-armed men burned trucks as gunshots rang out across the mine. Nine men connected to the unrest have been arrested.
