Ukraine’s ousted Defence Minister Mykhailo Fedorov has called for a wartime election, saying Russia shouldn’t hold hostage people’s right to vote.
Since his dismissal, there have been daily protests in Kyiv in support for Fedorov as wellas allegations of corruption within Zelenskyy’s government. While wartime elections are prohibited in Ukraine, it is the first call for a leadership challenge since Russia invaded in 2022.
