Russia releases detained US citizen as Trump labels reporter ‘stupid’
US President Donald Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff has praised Russian leader Vladimir Putin as a “humanitarian” after the release of a US citizen who was held in a Russian prison for four years.

President Trump has clashed with members of the media over suggestions that Hubbard was released in exchange for the US lifting sanctions on Russia, calling a US ABC News reporter “a stupid person”.
