Rental crisis locks out low income earners | 7NEWS

Anglicare Australia’s Rental Affordability Snapshot reveals that more than 99% of the private rental market is unaffordable for low-income earners, with only one property out of 49,000 listings affordable for someone on JobSeeker. Retirees on the age pension face particularly grim circumstances, with just 0.2% of rentals affordable for single pensioners and 0.7% for couples, including shared accommodation. The crisis affects all demographics, from young people on youth allowance to elderly Australians entering retirement without home ownership.
