Queensland rail workers have launched protected industrial action, with approximately 200 union members walking off the job to demand higher pay. The strike has resulted in complete cancellation of Cleveland line services and partial cancellation of Ipswich and Rosewood line services between Rosewood and Darra, affecting thousands of commuters across South East Queensland. The timing is particularly challenging as the region has seen increased public transport usage due to 50-cent fares and rising fuel costs.
