Queensland Executive resigns after Trump joke sparks backlash
Queensland Tourism Industry Council Executive Melanie Anderson has resigned over a joke she made about US President Donald Trump.
When discussing the shortage of hotel rooms in Brisbane ahead of the 2032 Olympics, Ms Anderson said the problem could be solved by getting “a sharpshooter for Donald Trump”.
She has since apologised, but doubled down on the sentiment, explaining the Middle East war is “hurting Queensland Tourism Operators, businesses and communities”.
