Pro-Palestinian protests go ahead in Sydney
Thousands of protesters have marched through Sydney to show support for the people of Gaza two years after the start of the war with Hamas and Israel.
The march was originally set to end at the Sydney Opera House, but those plans were scuppered when the NSW Court of Appeals ruled the risk to public safety was too great.
Attendees waved Palestinian flags and called for an end to what they described as a genocide in Gaza.
A UN Independent International Commission of Inquiry last month ruled Israel has and is committing genocide against Palestinians in Gaza. Israel has strongly denied allegations of genocide, and rejected the inquiry’s findings as a “distorted and false report”.
