Federal Treasurer Jim Chalmers has announced that power bill subsidies will not be extended into next year, ending the household relief programme. The government spent almost $7 billion across three rounds of cost of living relief, but Chalmers cited budget pressures as the reason for the difficult decision to discontinue the electricity bill rebates.
