Pope Leo has visited the Blue Mosque in Istanbul during his first overseas trip since his appointment as the Pontiff.
The head of the Catholic church took off his shoes but declined a call to prayer at the Sultanahmet Mosque.
The Christian leader held a mass at the Volkswagen Arena in the first Catholic religious celebration outside of a church in Turkiye.
Pope Leo will then fly to Beirut in Lebanon to show solidarity with Christian followers in the country and call for peace amid simmering tensions in the Middle East.
