Police seek full access to Sydney toll cameras | 7NEWS
The New South Wales government is proposing legislation to grant police unrestricted access to toll camera images on Sydney’s roads, including views of drivers’ faces and vehicle occupants. Currently, toll cameras can only capture vehicle make and licence plates, with all other information automatically redacted, which police say has impeded major crime investigations including kidnappings and shootings. The proposed changes would initially apply to cameras on the Harbour Bridge and Harbour Tunnel, with potential expansion to private toll roads across the motorway network.
