Two detectives fired shots during a confrontation at a Dandenong motel after a stolen Jeep repeatedly rammed their unmarked police vehicle in a desperate escape attempt. The incident occurred when officers attempted to corner two offenders in the stolen vehicle with false plates on Princes Highway, trapping them in the motel car park. One detective suffered head injuries from the repeated collisions, while both suspects—an 18-year-old from Seaford and a 38-year-old from South Melbourne—were arrested uninjured, facing multiple charges including aggravated intentional exposure of emergency workers to risk by driving.
