PM admits podcast appearance was ‘an error’ following backlash over Minogue, Melon comments
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has admitted that his appearance on the Bush Deep podcast, which resulted in controversial comments about Kylie Minogue and melons from Japan, was “an error”.
Anthony Albanese faced widespread criticism for his comments about Kylie Minogue and an alleged sexual innuendo about melons gifted from Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi.
Speaking to the ABC, he was asked whether he had learnt anything from the controversy and admitted he was wrong and that he should never have done the podcast.
The prime minister has continued to refuse to apologise to Japan’s prime minister.
