Phillip Island MotoGP future uncertain after contract expires | 7NEWS
Phillip Island locals are concerned about the future of the MotoGP after the race contract expires next year, with no clarity from the state government on renewal plans. The 36-year-old event generates almost $30 million in direct spend for the Victorian economy and increases gross state product by more than $54 million. Local hospitality and accommodation providers fear significant losses if the event relocates elsewhere, as last year’s race attracted 93,000 people to the island.
