‘Performative’: Allan government uses local Indigenous language for representative body

Indigenous elders in Gippsland are upset at the Allan government for using their language to name the state’s proposed Indigenous representative body without permission.

“I think it proves as we often have with the Australia Day debate … it’s not really about actually doing anything good or decent for Aboriginal people,” Sky News host Caleb Bond said.

“It is performative.

“If you really cared, you’d take the time to say how you would feel about using your language.”
