Pentagon confirms execution of Fort Hood shooter Nidal Malik Hasan will be livestreamed
The Pentagon has confirmed the firing squad execution of Fort Hood shooter Nidal Malik Hasan will be livestreamed after US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth said the execution would be “public”.
The execution of Hasan is scheduled to take place at Fort Hood on December 3. Hasan was convicted of killing 13 unarmed US soldiers and injuring 32 other people in a shooting at the military base in 2009.
Amnesty International’s Death Sentences and Executions report said there were at least 2,707 executions last year globally. Only two countries carried out the executions publicly: Afghanistan and Iran.
It’s understood this will be the first public execution in the United States in approximately 90 years.
