Passengers of the MV Awka have been rescued after the ferry spent three days drifting on the open ocean because the engine failed. The ferry broke down in Solomon Islands’ remote Temotu waters more than 100km from its destination.
French and Australian planes dropped emergency supplies before help arrived to tow the ferry to safety.
