Clashes erupted near Paris’s Place de la Bastille as tens of thousands of protesters took to the streets across France on Thursday, October 8, amid ongoing demonstrations over school conditions.
Footage captured by journalist PIKE FR shows police deploying a water cannon and charging into the crowd as tensions escalated. Demonstrators can also be seen throwing objects at police, including chairs and entire shrubs, while chemical irritants fill the air as officers tackle protesters.
More than 70,000 people demonstrated across France on Thursday, according to the Ministry of the Interior.
