Outback tourist town up in arms over proposed policing plan | ABC NEWS
Between the 320-kilometre stretch of highway between Darwin and Katherine, there are only a couple of places to stop for a meal or an overnight stay, one is the historic town of Pine Creek.
The gold rush town has joined a growing list of communities who no longer have a 24/7 police presence and rely on officers from neighboring areas to respond to emergencies.
