Sixty nations, including Australia, have been hit with a fresh round of tariffs in a decree by the United States Trade Ambassador.

Australia is facing trade sanctions at the upper end of the scale.

A permanent 12.5% tariff has been imposed.

The US claims Australia is not doing enough to combat modern slavery, an allegation Australia rejects.
