NT to construct a new rare earths mine
The Northern Territory government says a new rare earths mine will be a game-changer for Alice Springs, with a new site set to open 135km north of the town.
Construction for Arafura Resources’ Nolan Project is set to begin in September after being stuck in the planning stage for over a decade.
They will mine for neodymium-praseodymium metal [NdPr] and have the potential to supply a “significant proportion” of the world’s demand.
The company estimates the peak construction workforce will be 600 people, with an operational workforce of 350.
