Nipah Virus fears force airports to bring back pandemic-era measures

Airports in parts of Asia have reinstated pandemic-style screening checks amid an outbreak of the deadly Nipah virus in India’s West Bengal.

Two cases of the zoonotic illness – which is typically transmitted from fruit bats or pigs to humans, or person-to-person via contaminated food or contact – have been confirmed in the province since December, India’s health ministry said. Both of those infected are reported to be healthcare workers.
