New national exams to address unchecked AI use affecting schools
A back-to-basics approach could result in students in Years 6, 10 and 12 sitting national exams.
The proposal is part of a radical policy overhaul to address unchecked AI use affecting the integrity of Australia’s schooling system, aiming to better measure student progress from kindergarten to Year 12.
Students would sit a mandatory English test, in addition to exams designed to test content knowledge rather than skills. Students would still be expected to complete NAPLAN tests in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9.
